RESHAPE YOUR UPPER ARMS WITH AN ARM LIFT
An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure used to reshape the upper arms by removing excess skin and fat. Many patients will say they have a “wing” appearance to their upper arms, and this is often seen with natural aging or massive weight loss.
Most patients that are seeking arm rejuvenation surgery are too embarrassed to wear short sleeve shirts because it is too revealing and embarrassing for them. While long-sleeves may be a quick fix, nothing can compare to the confidence you will enjoy from more toned, shapely arms that look great in any clothing.
The procedure is designed to contour and improve the shape of the upper arm, from elbow to armpit, by removing unwanted fat and sagging skin. This procedure will leave you with a sharper more defined contour while building your confidence to wear clothing that you have always wanted too.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR AN ARM LIFT?
You are an ideal candidate for an Arm Lift:
- If you are a person who is unhappy with excess skin and/or fat of the upper arm
- If you are a person in good medical health and are not using nicotine products
- If you are a person who has lost a significant amount of weight leaving extra skin laxity
- If you are a person who has aged and is left with loose skin and/or excess fatty tissue
- If you have reached your body goals and are at a stable weight because with weight fluctuations the arms will change shape

ARM LIFT PROCEDURE DETAILS
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia. Brachioplasty is often performed with direct skin removal, liposuction for fat removal, or a combination of both. In addition, the deeper supportive tissue is tightened for improving the contour of the arm and the skin is re-draped for a more smooth appearance.
The location, length, and direction of these incisions will be determined by your unique surgical plan and the type of Brachioplasty you will undergo. This will be discussed at your consultation.
Liposuction only procedures require very small scars 1-2mm. Skin removal cases require an incision over the inside of the arm to the armpit or over the back side of the arm. The length of the incision depends on how much skin needs to be removed. In almost every case Dr. Brown uses a NO surgical drain technique.
IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?
Typically, arm lift surgery is performed in an outpatient surgery center and you will be able to go home the same day unless multiple procedures are performed together. You can expect to have compression bandages around the arms to help decrease swelling. This will be required for up to six weeks after surgery. You will be able to remove these wraps when you take a shower and will then need to replace them after.
Compression will help not only reduce swelling but will also drastically improve the outcome of your procedure. This will give you the best result as it helps contour the arms. Sutures are all dissolvable on their own and will not need to be removed. You should expect 1-2 weeks off of work depending on what your specific job requires. You will be seen in our office 1 week after surgery, and schedule follow-ups accordingly thereafter.
